These scenes will be shot in color. TONY SAGAN: Early 20's, Kind of quiet, Tall TONY My name is Tony Sagan, I'm 20 years old, Born and raised in Milwaukee WI. I am currently enrolled at Marquette Univ. In Milwaukee. I have always been interested in paranormal activity and thought it would Interesting to take part in this experiment. I found out about this project from an add off the internet...auditioned and here I am! CUT TO: DAVID BELL: Early 20's, Cocky, Medium Height DAVID My name is David Bell, I'm 21 years old Born and raised in Chicago IL. I am a junior at Marquette Univ. Majoring in communications. I heard through my friend about the chance to video tape a ghost! Of course I jumped at the chance! CUT TO: JAMIE WELLES: Early 20's, Assistant, Very efficient and organized JAMIE Hello, My name is Jamie Welles I am 23 yrs old, a graduate of the Univ. Of Wis. Milwaukee. I heard about the Paulding Light through a college friend who personally experienced this phenomenon and decided he wanted to make a documentary about it. He asked me if I wanted to participate with the production. After a little studying on the subject I thought it would be fascinating and said......Yes! CUT TO: BRIAN PARSONS: Mid 20's, Team leader, Medium Height, Smart BRIAN Hi, My name is Brian Parsons the producer of this Documentary. I am 24 years old, a graduate of the Univ. Of Wis. Milwaukee with a degree in film. You know....They say that once during everyones life time they encounter a profound life changing experience. Well I encountered mine last winter when I first saw this thing with my own eyes......... SLOW ZOOM IN ON BRIANS FACE BRIAN (CONT'D) .....It turned the experience into a obsession! FADE TO BLACK. 2 INT. HOUSE LIVINGROOM - EVENING Fade in from black to a ECU Of a TV monitor showing stock taped video footage of the Paulding Light. Slowly zoom out showing the group of four students that volunteered for the experiment sitting in a half circle watching the footage and listening to Brian speak... BRIAN Well guys this is what you have to look forward to. As you all know in February I went up to see the light and video taped a little bit of it. This tape does'nt give it much justice but it does provide a good example of what we are shooting for. Basically what I would like to accomplish is to make a short documentary with interviews of people who have seen or encountered the light and using our cameras, walk right up to this mystery and find out exactly what it is and what makes it tick! Camera does a slow 180 degrees of crew listening to Brian BRIAN (CONT'D) When I taped this, I myself just heard other peoples stories and being the skeptic that I am I would think there had to be a logical explanation for this thing. But that was before I saw it in person. After that it changed me somehow, I did not and could not explain what I was looking at,and for the last six months since that experience I have been obsessed with that damned thing and with your help and interest we can document and maybe actually have a near encounter with the Paulding Light,and hopefully this time tomorrow my dream will be a reality! OK let's go tape the Intro and get that much out of the way. CUT TO: DAVID (Stretching) But first let's go over a map one more time, Just in case I lose you on the way up there. TONY (kiddingly) What? Do you get scared when your lost? DAVID No, I just don't like wasting time! All four stand up and start walking towards the kitchen 2 INT. HOUSE KITCHEN - MOMENTS LATER BRIAN I think I have an extra map you can just keep somewhere in the kitchen LOW ANGLE LOOKING UP THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE TABLE All four walk into the kitchen and stand around the table as Brian grabs a map from the drawer and unfolds it over the camera ECU OF MAP AND BRIAN HOLDING A HIGHLIGHTER ON THE MAP BRIAN (CONT'D) OK here we are now in Hartford, you get on hwy 60 east to hwy 45 and take that straight up north into the U.P. And watersmeet where were going to stay for the weekend, and the light itself is only five miles north of watersmeet. Just a stones throw. It's simple. CAMERA PANS UPWARD ON BRIAN AND DAVID DAVID Thanks....alright let's go tape that intro so I can get home and get some sleep before our 6 hour drive BACK TO LOW ANGLE UNDER THE TABLE Brian picks up map and folds it and hands it to David and they all begin to walk towards the basement CUT TO BLACK: A Light is suddenly turned on and we notice we are in a basement with a black velvet seamless hanging to use as a back drop. It will be used for the opening scene to the documentary. A camera is setup in front of the seamless for the shot. We also see a candle and some wind chimes in the shot. BRIAN This should only take a couple 15 minutes. Don't worry I memorized what I am going to say... Brian puts on a black turtle neck tee shirt over his existing shirt. BRIAN (CONT'D) OK This is the setup and shot. Jamie you will have to man the camera and David I will need you to stand on that stool behind the back drop and hold these chimes over the top of the velvet background. I will then position myself right here in the middle, The lights will go out and I will then light a match and then light this candle..Say my opening speech..and after I have completed what I have to say David will dangle the chimes and as I begin to look up towards him Jamie you will then have to blow out the candle... (BEAT) BRIAN (CONT'D) ...And that's the whole scene! Simple hey? TONY Wait, If Jamie is running the camera how can she blow out the candle? Just have me do it and she won't have t=o move from her position! CAMERA PANS TOWARDS BRIAN BRIAN Thanks? But I need a women sounding blow to make the scene effective. CUT TO: Shot of Tony looking confused All members start to get into their positions with Brian's direction BRIAN (CONT'D) OK...everyone in position? Random yes's from the group BRIAN (CONT'D) Alrighty then. On the count down from three...Tony get the lights please and Jamie roll video please..OK...3... TONY When you say get the lights do you mean you want me to turn them off? BRIAN yes...YES...! I'm sorry. OK let's try it again...3... All lights go out and camera starts to roll BRIAN (CONT'D) 2...1... A spark of flame erupts out of the darkness with camera lens adjusting to the light until we see just Brian's head taking the match and lighting the candle in front of him NOTICE WE ARE IN COLOR NOW BRIAN (CONT'D) You are about to go on the journey of a lifetime. A journey some say leads into the infernos of hell, Others say it leads to an amazing paradise. During this documentary we'll guide you through a garden of ghost, shadow people or even something explainable. Many people have tried and never succeeded to explain this mystery, the mystery we call The Paulding Light! After Brian has completed his opening. We hear chimes from above and Brian turns his head slightly towards the sound and as his head is turned and looking up, only his eyes look back at the candle for a split second..then the candle quickly goes out... From the darkness we hear Brian... BRIAN (CONT'D) Cut! Wonderful! Only one take, Alright let's.............. 3 INT. HOUSE LIVINGROOM (TV SET)- EVENING CUT FROM THE DARKNESS TO A MIDDLE RANGE SHOT OF THE TV SET THE GROUP HAS BEEN WATCHING EARLIER. WE START SLOWLY ZOOMING IN ON THE FOOTAGE OF THE LIGHT..AND WE HEAR BRIAN WRAPPING THINGS UP IN THE BASEMENT. THE CAMERA CONTINUES TO ZOOM ALL THE WAY IN UNTIL WE SEE AND HEAR END OF TAPE STATIC... CUT TO BLACK: With black screen we hear a voice over of David... DAVID (V.O.) (Panic in voice) Oh my god..I see a face in it! CUT TO: 4 EXT. BACKYARD BRIANS HOUSE - MORNING TITLE CARD The Paulding Light Fade title card Jamie pulls into Brian's driveway and parks next to his car. She gets out of the drivers side CUT TO: VERY LOW STRAIGHT UP SHOT OF JAMIE CLOSING HER CAR DOOR (NOTICE THE PERSPECTIVE OF JAMIE, MAPLE TREES AND MORNING BLUE SKY) Jamie begins walking towards Brian's back deck CUT TO: MEDIUM ZOOM OF JAMIE WALKING UNTIL WE HAVE A CLOSE-UP OF HER FACE WHERE SHE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP Jamie In close-up, smiles as a slight breeze blows her dark hair CUT TO: SHOT OF BRIAN WALKING OUT OF BACK DOOR WITH A DUFFLE BAG JAMIE Come on! You know what to do dog! Buster Move!! BRIAN (Smiles) Damnit Jim, I'm a filmmaker not a scientist! Random shots of Brian and Jamie carrying equipment to Brian's car JAMIE Are you sure my car will be alright here over night? BRIAN No.... JAMIE Oh great..that's reassuring! BRIAN Alright let's get all your equipment out of your car and load her up into mine Brian lifts his arm until his hand and garage door opener are at an ECU and pushes the button CUT TO: SHOT FROM INSIDE OF GARAGE OF DOOR OPENING WITH A VIGNETTE OF LIGHT FROM BLACK TO WHITE EXPOSING BRIAN AND JAMIE Brian pops the trunk of his car and starts to load it up JAMIE What time is it? BRIAN ummm..... Brian looks at his watch BRIAN (CONT'D) It's exactly 8:45 JAMIE Where the hell are them two? I told them to meet us here at 8:30... All of a sudden David and Tony come flying into the driveway with the stereo blasting JAMIE (CONT'D) well speak of the devil! They both step out of the car DAVID Never fear..The ghost busters are here! And last night I had way to much beer..God am I hurting! BRIAN Not only that..Your also quite a poet! (Laughs) I hope you aren't planning on driving up so you can get some rest DAVID I'm not going to trust spearhead here with my car..I'll be fine! David grabs his stomach DAVID (CONT'D) I think....? JAMIE What happened last night? I thought you were going right home to bed to get your beauty sleep? DAVID I was on my way home, but when I passed the bar a mysterious force called out to me and made me stop in to have a few. JAMIE Well do you have any extra room in your trunk? We're pretty much full. DAVID For you sweetheart..I'll make room! David walks to the back of his car and opens his trunk CAMERA IS INSIDE OF THE TRUNK AS IT IS BEING OPENED AND WE SEE DAVID AND JAMIE LOADING UP A FEW BAGS. JAMIE Well that's everything, So just follow us and try not to get to far behind so we don't lose you. DAVID We'll only get to far behind if only you get to far ahead...darling! Jamie smiles JAMIE Drive safely Exit Jamie from shot, David leans up on the open car trunk and rest his head on his arm as Tony enters.. TONY Hey David, Brian is right..I think you better let me drive. DAVID Listen spearhead, The only person who is going to be driving this car is me..not you..Not anybody! TONY I'm serious David, You look like shit, atleast get a couple of hours of sleep DAVID I don't need sleep! All I need is to get something to eat, take a healthy shit and I'll be fine! TONY But David all I'm trying to tell you....... (Beat) David lifts his head up and turns it towards Tony still holding his stomach DAVID (Very Angry) Tony..I am not telling you again! You are NOT!...I REPEAT, NOT! driving my car up there. Do you understand! I am driving Not you...Not you in a million years! (Beat) DAVID (CONT'D) (David's hangover is very apparent!) ...Oh this is going to be a long drive! David then slams the trunk door closed and the screen goes black CUT TO: 5 INT. INSIDE DAVID'S CAR - AFTERNOON Close-up of David sleeping on passenger seat of car, then slowly pan right to Tony driving his car. DIRECTORS NOTE: From here on for the rest of the screenplay there are no hard and fast rules! Many of the shots and dialogue will have to be improvised for reasons that are obvious. For example the Interviews, Random discussions and The location shooting of the light itself due to it actually occurring, Only the second scene of light encounter will be choreographed. CUT TO: 6 INT. BRIANS CAR - MOMENTS LATER JAMIE Well we passed the halfway point! BRIAN I have to go to the bathroom, Let's stop up here at the next gas station. JAMIE Sounds good I need to get something to drink...BAD! CUT TO: 7 EXT. HIGHWAY - MOMENTS LATER MEDIUM SHOT OF THE TWO CARS DRIVING TOWARDS A GAS STATION CUT TO: 8 INT. INSIDE DAVID'S CAR - MOMENTS LATER TONY'S POV DRIVING INTO GAS STATION PARKING LOT TONY Hey wakeup sleepy head, were at a gas station. Tony gently pushes David,but David doesn't notice TONY (CONT'D) Hey David!! Wakeup!! Tony proceeds to smack David in his head TONY (CONT'D) we're at a gas station do you want anything? David jumps up in anger and confusion DAVID What the hell are you doing? Do you wanna die? TONY If you need something get it now I don't think we'll be stopping again David looks around at his surroundings and then looks in the mirror at himself 9 INT. DAVID'S CAR - CONTINUOUS SHOT OF DAVID IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR LOOKING AT HIMSELF FIXING HIS HAIR AND STICKING OUT HIS TONGUE DAVID Yeah...I need something to drink. I got some hot pipes! CUT TO: 10 INT. GAS STATION The four of them enter the gas station and carry on to their certain needs. SHOT FROM BEHIND THE COUNTER (THE CASHIERS POV) Brian walks up to the counter first... BRIAN Can I have the key to the bathroom please? CUT TO: SHOT OF MALE CASHIER FROM CUSTOMERS SIDE OF COUNTER Cashier hands Brian the bathroom key BRIAN (CONT'D) Thank you sir. Brian leaves and Jamie is next in line with her pop, She sets it on top of the counter and pays for it. As Jamie moves to the side Tony walks up to the counter... CUT TO: CASHIER POV AGAIN Tony looks at camera...Notice David walking up behind him TONY Would you have any more bottles of Cool Breeze? I can't seem to find any CASHIER (V.O.) Hmmm...We should! Let me go check in the back...Hey Stacey can you take care of this next gentleman please? Still from the cashiers POV we see the cashier walk towards the back as Tony follows him...We are left with David standing alone and walking up to the counter with his soda and chips. As he places his things on the counter we notice his eyes widen.. CUT TO: DAVID'S POV We see a young blonde, beautiful girl walking out from the back room wearing a tight blouse showing her belly button and wearing short cutoff jean shorts. She is moving in dreamy slow motion (48 FPS) CUT TO: CASHIER POV Slow zoom in on David being put into a trance from this girls beauty... CUT TO: DAVID'S POV STACEY Is this it? CUT TO: CASHIERS POV DAVID AAAH...No...Ummm....A pack of Marlboro lights please. CUT TO: SIDE VIEW OF BOTH STACEY Hard or soft pack? CUT TO: CAHIERS POV/CLOSE-UP OF DAVID David looks down towards his feet..smiles and looks back up at Stacey DAVID Hard...pack please...Yeah...I think? We see Stacey place the pack down next to the rest of his things as David's eyes are still fixed on her. CUT TO: SIDE VIEW OF BOTH STACEY That will be $7.67 please DAVID OK........ David pulls out his wallet and pulls out a $10.00 bill DAVID (CONT'D) Stacey right? Stacey hands him his change CUT TO: DAVID'S POV STACEY Yeah that's right... CUT TO: SIDE SHOT DAVID Hello Stacey...I'm David David holds out his hand as him and Stacey shake STACEY Nice to meet you David CUT TO: CASHIERS POV We notice Tony walking back with the male cashier holding his bottle of Cool Breeze STACEY (CONT'D) You want a bag for that? DAVID Ummm...no thanks David's moves over to the side holding his goods...Tony pays for his juice...Brian places the key back onto the counter and all move out of the frame except for DAVID TONY (V.O.) Come on David let's go! David continues to stand and stare BRIAN (V.O.) Hey Casanova You ready? TONY (V.O.) Come on David! We gotta go!! All of a sudden a hand grabs David and plucks him out of the frame TONY (CONT'D) (Yells back) .............Thank you! CUT TO: STRAIGHT ON SHOT OF BOTH CASHIERS STANDING BEHIND THE COUNTER LOOKING TOWARDS THE DOOR 11 GAS STATION PARKING LOT - CONTINUOUS David and Tony are walking back towards David's car DAVID Oh my god!...Did you see that girl?...She was absolutely phenomenal! TONY Yeah She was pretty cute...But not my type...I like them a little taller! Tony then smiles as David turns his head towards him with a puzzled and confused look on his face, David then gives Tony a light smack in the back of his head. They then exit the frame and the camera pans left over to Brian and Jamie getting into their car BRIAN Alright guys we're halfway there now! Only three more hours. CAMERA PANS LEFT AGAIN TO DAVID AND TONY'S CAR DAVID Sounds good, You can speed it up a little now...I'll be driving TONY Just keep your mind on the road and not on blondie...OK! David looks over at Tony DAVID Bite me! Both car doors slam simultaneously CUT TO: 12 INT. DAVID'S CAR - AFTERNOON SHOT FROM DAVID'S POV LOOKING OUT OF PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW TONY You know what's weird?....When I was very young my grandparents lived out there in Hartford and one summer they were celebrating their Centennial Anniversary and they had this huge parade that seemed to go on forever and even though I was very young I Distinctly remember the clowns in it...I think there were five all together, They were hired from some agency in Milwaukee...and before that day I have always been terrified of clowns...I don't know why, Just something creepy about them....But these particular clowns were cool, you know? They made me laugh and were the part of the parade I enjoyed the most. But after the parade was over all 5 of them...Still in makeup...were on there way back to Milwaukee when the vehicle they were all in was hit head on by a another motorist Killing all five of the clowns,and I remember thinking what the scene of the accident must of looked like when the first rescue workers arrived...It must have been a gruesome scene as each clown was being pulled from the wreck one at a time, there once colorful outfits now soaked in blood covering their twisted and broken bodies, Their red and black Whigs mashed into their skulls as blood floods their white made-up faces...even though they are dead each one still has their big red smile painted on their faces making the whole situation surreal... ZOOM OUT A LITTLE UNTIL WE SEE TONY'S FACE ON RIGHT SIDE OF FRAME TONY (CONT'D) ...and what's really strange is that we have pictures of me with the clowns just hours before they all Die!!! CUT TO: Shot of David looking over at Tony CUT TO: SHOT FROM THE BACKSEAT OF BOTH OF THEM David is driving and still looking over at Tony as he looks out his window DAVID Were they driving a little white volkeswagon? Tony turns his head towards David, stares at him... TONY No!.......... CUT TO: 13 EXT. HIGHWAY - AFTERNOON LOW ANGLE SHOT SETUP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD Both cars go flying by past the camera CUT TO: 14 INT. BRIANS CAR - AFTERNOON Brian driving with Jamie in passenger side with her bare feet on the dashboard holding a notebook BRIAN well we just entered Michigan, Only 15 more minute before we get to the hotel JAMIE I can't wait..I really need to stand up. BRIAN by the time we get there and unpack it will be around 5:00 PM,Just in time for dinner.....I'm starving! Brian looks over at Jamie BRIAN (CONT'D) Jamie...You aren't nervous are you? JAMIE Are you? BRIAN No...Are you? Jamie pauses for a moment CUT TO: SHOT FROM JAMIE'S POV OF BRIAN STARING AT HER BRIAN (CONT'D) Well..................? CUT TO: JAMIE FROM BRIAN'S POV Jamie turns her head towards Brian as if she just broke out of a trance JAMIE HMMMMM......No...I find this exciting (BEAT) JAMIE (CONT'D) Anyway what could go wrong? Silence BRIAN ........We could all die! They both start laughing for around 5 seconds then suddenly both get serious looks on their faces and both look straight ahead. CUT TO: 15 INT. DAVID'S CAR - AFTERNOON SHOT OF DAVID AND TONY FROM BACK SEAT OF CAR David is driving and Tony is in passenger seat holding a pair of binoculars TONY What do you think that light is? DAVID Oh I don't know!..I'll have to see it first TONY I have a theory...A pretty interesting one at that! CUT TO: TONY'S POV OF DAVID David looks over at Tony DAVID Oh yeah? What is it? TONY I think it is a doorway into another universe or dimension! David swerves the car a little and looks back towards the road CUT TO: TONY FROM DAVID'S POV TONY You heard of wormholes before haven't you? CUT TO: DAVID FROM TONY'S POV DAVID Yes I heard of wormholes before! CUT TO: TONY FROM DAVID'S POV TONY Well this will be similar to a wormhole, Except it is more like a doorway! CUT TO: DAVID FROM TONY'S POV David looks over at Tony puzzled DAVID A doorway to what? CUT TO: TONY FROM DAVID'S POV TONY A doorway to a parallel universe, or maybe a doorway to a completely new universe or maybe, just maybe it could be just a transport to another part on earth with the same type of phenomenon CUT TO: DAVID FROM TONY'S POV DAVID (Laughing) How about it being some sort of a time machine so I can go back in time and never get involved with your weird self! CUT TO: SHOT OF DAVID AND TONY FROM BACK SEAT TONY Laugh if you want but your right it could be a time machine of some sort. But I do believe it is a transport to another universe DAVID Based on what! How can you prove your theory TONY I can't as of now but That's one of the reasons were going up there to find out!....Right! Silence DAVID You've been watching to many movies man! Silence TONY Maybe so! But you have to admit at this point it could be anything DAVID I still think it's only glacier gas or a ghost Tony looks over at David TONY And you call me weird....! Tony proceeds to put the binoculars to his eyes CUT TO: TONY FROM DAVID'S POV Tony looking through a pair of binoculars TONY (CONT'D) Hey..Hey...Watersmeet straight ahead! CUT TO: SHOT FROM PASSENGER SIDE OF DAVID'S CAR They pass watersmeet population sign CUT TO: DAVID FROM TONY'S POV David still looking straight ahead DAVID A doorway huh?...What if it is a doorway to HELL? You know that the locals say that there are these so called "darkmen" grim reaper type sightings wandering around the area. Maybe the light is just their bait and these dark men swallow idiots like us up as we stupidly get to close to it! David turns his head and looks at Tony DAVID (CONT'D) ........Well? CUT TO: TONY FROM DAVID'S POV Tony stares back at David smiles then shrugs his shoulders CUT TO: 16 INT. HOTEL - AFTERNOON CAMERA FOLLOWING BEHIND GROUP Group walking down hotel hallway to their room, once inside the four start to unpack their equipment. Shoot Random shots of the equipment they are going to use for the film. Then they all sit or lie down in exhaustion except for BRIAN A QUICK ZOOM ON BRIAN BRIAN Let's rest a little while, get something to eat and get some sleep...we have a big day tomorrow.... (BEAT) BRIAN (CONT'D) .....And David..Please don't drink tonight! CUT TO: 17 INT. HOTELROOM -THE NEXT DAY Title card (DAY 2) All four are getting ready to go out and shoot the interviews BRIAN Alright, We have all afternoon to get some interviews from some locals. All we should need is the 1/2 inch, Tripod, microphone, Microphone boom and head phones..... SHOT OF BED AND EACH PIECE OF EQUIPMENT PLACED DOWN IN ORDER OF DIALOGUE BRIAN (CONT'D) .......Everyone ready? I studied some locations That would be great for interviews and hopefully we will find someone that will cooperate. Ummm...We can all fit into my car. Our first stop will be downtown. They all pickup some equipment and then leave the room CUT TO: 18 EXT. LOCATION - LATER - INTERVIEW NO.1 Show group parking somewhere downtown and walking up to somebody and asking them if they had anything to say about the Paulding Light BRIAN Excuse me sir, We are working on a documentary about the Paulding Light. Did you ever hear or experience that phenomenon.... RANDY Oh sure I've been out there many times... It's only 6 miles from here ya know BRIAN Great...Would you mind if we interviewed you about your experience? It will be fun. RANDY Sure no problem..Is this like The Blair witch or something? BRIAN (Laughs) Yeah...Something like that.OK let's get setup Jamie sets up the tripod and puts the camera up on it then Tony plugs in the head phones and hands them to Jamie who looks through the view finder to setup the shot. Brian proceeds to plug in the microphone and puts it onto the boom and holds it as close to the interviewee as close as possible without having it in the frame. BRIAN (CONT'D) OK...What's your name sir? RANDY I'm Randy....Randy Fox....But everyone just calls me the Fox! Jamie rolls her eyes up into her head JAMIE Good Lord!......... HOTEL ROOM - EVENING Group back at Hotel room packing up the rest of their gear to film the paulding light on location BRIAN Great job guys on those interviews..We came up with some real good ones JAMIE Brian we better get going if you want to get setup before dark! BRIAN Right...I know we went over this a million times but let's quickly go over are master plan one more time... They all listen intensely to BRIAN talk...all noticeably a little nervous BRIAN (CONT'D) OK There is a sign at the entrance of the road that leads to the light that I want to do some quick dialogue there...then when we get to the dead end of the road we will park and setup there. TONY Well let's go now and go over everything in detail while it is still light out DAVID Yeah...Lets be like a tree and get the hell out of here! BRIAN Just remember there might be all kinds of curious sightseers hanging around. They shouldn't get in the way,plus remember there's safety in numbers! The four of them grab their equipment CUT TO: 26 EXT. PARKING LOT - MOMENTS LATER CAMERA FOLLOWS THEM TO THE CAR They pack all the equipment into the trunk BRIAN Well it's 6:00 PM, we have atleast 3 more hours of day light to go over everything in detail one more time They all get into the car, pull out of the parking space and drive into the coming darkness CUT TO: INT. BRIANS CAR - MOMENTS LATER They drive up to the entrance of the road and we see the sign for the light and pull in and over BRIAN There is the entrance and right there is the sign CUT TO: 27 EXT. LOCATION - CONTINUOUS CAR PULLS OVER BRIAN OK...Let's get setup Trunk of car opens up CUT TO: 28 EXT. LOCATION - CONTINUOUS WE ARE IN COLOR AGAIN/CAMERA POV OF BRIAN STANDING IN FRONT OF THE SIGN BRIAN We are at the entrance of the Paulding Light. Some would say we are at the entrance of hell..But that is what we are going to try to find out tonight. In a few moments we are going to try and walk right up to this phenomenon and try to discover what "Ripleys believe it or not" and "That's Incredible" couldn't. What you are about to experience is real,100% real. Our cameras will be rolling the whole time...... Slow zoom in on Brian BRIAN (CONT'D) There are no special effects and no tricks in editing. Everything we experience you will experience. We about to enter the mysterious world of the Paulding Light... (BEAT) BRIAN (CONT'D) ......May god be with us all! (PAUSE) BRIAN (CONT'D) Cut!........How was that? TONY Convincing...to convincing! I don't want to walk towards that thing any more! (Laughs) BRIAN Remember Tony.....it's just a movie! CUT TO: 29 EXT. LOCATION - LATER CAR PULLS UP TO THE DEAD END AND STOPS All four get back out of the car and walk to the barrier and look out towards the light. Notice we can see the light already in the distance.. BRIAN See it?....It's there on top of the hill DAVID Holy shit you ain't fooling BRIAN as it gets darker it will get much, Much brighter! JAMIE Everyone we interviewed including you said that it moves toward you... It looks like it's just sitting there BRIAN Yeah I know..I guess it does'nt always move. When I last saw it back in February, the first time we came out here it just sat there where it is now. It wasn't until later that night when we came out here again that it started moving towards us. DAVID How fast was it moving? BRIAN It varied in speed. It moved slowly at first exactly like someone running down the side of the hill over by those power lines carrying a lantern. JAMIE How exactly close did it get to you? BRIAN That's hard to say, It looks like it's getting to close for comfort to the point where you actually start moving back away from it, But then it disappears and starts all over from the top of the hill again and comes back down a little faster TONY Wow!...Its almost as if your pissing it off being here! BRIAN I know...and it repeats this over and over each time getting a little faster until it just disappeared all together and we didn't see it anymore that night DAVID That is so weird it's cool...Let's get ready I have to see this thing close-up TONY Could it be a hoax? Like someone really carrying a lantern? BRIAN No impossible...The light is so bright you would definitely see the person carrying it. TONY So what do you think it really is? BRIAN I don't know..The most logical answer I could come up with was pressurized glacier gas seeping out of the earths crust. But that has never been proven..atleast I don't think it was. DAVID Bullshit! That is a ghost and I am going to have my picture taken with it! They all laugh JAMIE Maybe you can talk him into giving us an exclusive interview DAVID (In David's best English accent) Smashing idea luv! David blows Jamie a kiss BRIAN Let's get setup and while we do that we'll review what we are trying to accomplish... (BEAT) BRIAN (CONT'D) ....Remember this is a one shot deal CAMERA TURNS 190 DEGREES Where they start unpacking and putting on their geer. The sun is very low now and the light is much brighter BRIAN IS STANDING IN BACK SHOUTING OUT THE REVIEW AND OTHER 3 MEMBERS UNIFORMLY TOWARDS CAMERA GETTING PREPARED BRIAN (CONT'D) OK Quick review...Jamie and I will stay back here, me manning one of the cameras and Jamie manning one of the two way radios. David will take one of the other cameras, it does'nt matter which one and he will also man the other radio to stay in constant communication with us, and Tony will take the last camera and all three of us will have to leave our cameras on and tape everything at all times for this experiment to work. JAMIE Remember what the one fella said about how he and his buddies came out here and his buddies walked out towards the light and he stayed back and his friends said they didn't see a thing while thy were at the spot of the light, But he insisted the light was on the whole time from his perspective while they were out there. BRIAN Oh yeah...That's right! Pretty strange ain't it? Everyone now is ready to go BRIAN (CONT'D) OK do you two have extra batteries DAVID Check....captain! TONY Ummm.....Yep! BRIAN OK roll cameras and gather around All three of them start their cameras STRAIGHT UP SHOT OF ALL FOUR IN A CIRCLE (HUDDLE) BRIAN (CONT'D) OK this is it folks, As I said earlier this is a one shot deal, tomorrow at this time I will be in the editing room. They both walk past camera and out of frame CUT TO: LONG SHOT FROM BEHIND BRIAN AND JAMIE (SLOW MOTION 48FPS) (Cue Sound Effects) We see Tony on the left and David on the right walking out into the field with Brian standing in the center of frame with the Paulding Light directly behind him only showing BRIAN as a silhouette. Jamie is standing to his left. HOTEL ROOM - LATER After their experiment with the Paulding Light all four of them are excited and relieved. Brian breaks open a bottle of champaign to celebrate. All discussion is reflecting on their experience. DIRECTORS NOTE: Impossible to add dialogue to these scenes until after the shooting takes place! 32 INT. HOTEL ROOM - LATER All four are still giddy over their experience and are also a little tipsy from the alcohol and very relaxed BRIAN You know what we should do? TONY No what? BRIAN We should for the hell of it...Go back out there and do it again DAVID Hey...Why not! What time is it? JAMIE It's 2:30 am TONY WOW! Is it really that late already? DAVID Oh cut it out spearhead!...The night is still young! BRIAN And just think there probably won't be any sightseers there this time of night! DAVID Hell yes! Let's do it! TONY What the hell! SHOT FROM BACK SEAT OF JAMIE JAMIE I don't see it! BRIAN You don't see what? SHOT OUT OF FRONT WINDSHIELD TOWARDS THE LIGHT JAMIE The light!....Do you see it? David leans forward DAVID Sure shit....It's gone! CUT TO: 34 EXT. LOCATION - MOMENTS LATER CAR DRIVES UP TO THE BARRIER THEY WERE AT EARLIER Car stops and turns off it's headlights and engine shuts off 34 INT. BRIANS CAR - MOMENTS LATER SIDE SHOT OF JAMIE JAMIE I don't like this guys!....Remember what that one girl said we interviewed? David leans forward again DAVID You mean the same gal that said people have seen the Grim Reeper hanging around here? JAMIE Yeah she's the one...She also said that when the light isn't on that is when all the really weird stuff happens, like the strange sounds and everything....Remember? DAVID The only thing I remember about her is that she was daft! Now let's go do this! David opens the door and gets out CUT TO: SHOT OF BRIAN FROM JAMIE'S POV BRIAN Don't worry, This won't take long CUT TO: 35 EXT. LOCATION - MOMENTS LATER All four get out of the car and grab all their equipment out of the trunk DAVID Hey BRIAN you did recharge all of the batteries back at the hotel..didn't you? BRIAN yeah...They are as good as new TONY Oh man this is nuts! I can't believe we're going through this again JAMIE What are you even going to shoot? The light isn't even out there! BRIAN It probably show up again! Remember what I said earlier, It sometimes disappears for a while. They all have their gear on and are ready to go BRIAN (CONT'D) OK...Roll cameras They all start their cameras BRIAN (CONT'D) Here we are back at the Scene of the Paulding light ready to film grand experiment no.2 Tony and David start walking down the field. All you can see are the lights from their cameras 36 EXT. EXPERIMENT NO.2 - MOMENTS LATER DIRECTORS NOTE: Unlike experiment no.1 this scene is going to be choreographed. BACK TO COLOR/ALL SHOTS FROM CAMERAS POV BRIANS POV Jamie talking into radio JAMIE David can you hear me? DAVID (V.O.) Sure can sweetheart...Can you hear me? JAMIE Loud and clear! CUT TO: DAVID'S POV Talking into radio DAVID It's pretty quiet out here...No sign of the light CUT TO: BRIANS POV DAVID (V.O.) (CONT'D) Almost to quiet..Kind of eerie Jamie talking into radio JAMIE I know how you feel! DAVID (V.O.) Can you guys still see us? JAMIE Just the lights of your cameras...Tony is directly parallel from you across the field CUT TO: DAVID'S POV DAVID Yeah I know...I can see his light CUT TO: TONY'S POV Tony is scanning the field with his camera TONY Oh man this is crazy! What the hell am I doing out here All of a sudden Tony hears something and stops. He slowly does a 360 with his camera TONY (CONT'D) Hello?....Anyone out there He stays still for a minute then continues walking CUT TO: BRIANS POV BRIAN Well I can't see them anymore...can you pick him up Jamie talks into the radio JAMIE Hello..David?...Can you hear me? (SILENCE) JAMIE (CONT'D) Hello..DAVID..Are you there? All of a sudden we hear David's voice DAVID (V.O.) Yes I am hear! JAMIE Anything happening yet? DAVID (V.O.) NO! I think we are just wasting our time.... CUT TO: DAVID'S POV DAVID (CONT'D) I'll continue for 15 more minutes and if nothing happens I'll track down PETE and we'll come back in. David is scanning the field with his camera JAMIE (V.O.) BRIAN said to come back in now! It's pretty dead out here DAVID Just give me 15 minutes...I thought I heard something JAMIE (V.O.) OK then hurry back! David continues to scan the field when he hears a strange noise over the radio (FLASH THE DEVIL) He stops and puts the radio to his ear DAVID Jamie is that you making those sounds? (SILENCE) He hears the sound again. It sound like backwards speech DAVID (CONT'D) Jamie are you there? I'm picking up some strange signal! The sound is louder now. He suddenly hears something move nearby. He slowly turns and scans the area with his camera DAVID (CONT'D) (Nervousness in his voice) Tony is that you?.....Tony? All of a sudden David gets hit and knocked down from behind. His camera continues to record after it hits the ground and we hear David screaming. CUT TO: TONY'S POV Tony comes to a complete stop as he hears DAVID sreaming in the distance TONY (Shouting) DAVID!...DAVID!...HEY DAVID! Tony starts to run towards the screaming CUT TO: BRIANS POV Jamie and Brian both hear David scream BRIAN Oh my god...That's David screaming! Jamie trys to contact him with the Radio JAMIE David?..Come in David..Are you all right? BRIAN (V.O.) Jamie!...Let me see the radio for a minute! JAMIE hands BRIAN the radio BRIAN (V.O.) (CONT'D) David!..Come in David!...Can you hear me? (STATIC) BRIAN (CONT'D) (V.O.) (CONT'D) David!...This is Brian! (STATIC) BRIAN (V.O.) (CONT'D) Come on David!....Please say something!! (STATIC) All of a sudden the sceaming stops JAMIE Something happened to him dammit! BRIAN Maybe he is just fooling around? JAMIE No Brian It didn't sound like it! We have to do something! CUT TO: TONY'S POV Tony continues to run and then stops when the screaming stops. He scans the area with his camera TONY David!! Can you here me! David!!! Answer me dammit!!!! Tony starts walking again when he comes across David's video equipment lying in the grass but no sign of him CUT TO: DAVID'S CAMERAS POV David's camera continues to run and we see a side way shot of Tony walking around where David was CUT TO: TONY'S POV TONY (V.O.) Come on David! Quit goofing around! Tony walks over to where the Radio is laying and bends over to pick it up when all of a sudden he gets hit from the side and his camera immediately goes static CUT TO: BRIANS POV Brian and Jamie now both hear Tony screaming in the distance BRIAN (V.O.) That sounds like Tony now! From the same area as David!! JAMIE (starting to cry) That is Tony! We have to go down there and help them Brian! Brian turns towards Jamie we see her crying BRIAN (V.O.) No! We ain't going anywhere!! I'm going down there...Your going to wait back here! JAMIE No Brian I'm not staying back here myself! I'm coming with you! BRIAN (V.O.) No Jamie! It is safer back here! Get into the car and lock the door and if I'm not back in 15 minutes...Leave! Tony's screaming stops in the distance JAMIE (Crying Harder) NO!!!!......... BRIAN (V.O.) Yes Jamie!...Please...Plus someone needs to be here incase they come back....OK? Jamie wipes tears from her face JAMIE OK!...But I'm not leaving you here! BRIAN (V.O.) Listen to me! If i am not back here in 15 minutes leave for help!...OK?...Promise me! JAMIE OK....I promise! BRIAN (V.O.) Alright then! Go sit in the car then and lock the door, and do not! I repeat DO NOT! Brian turns and walks down the field STILL BRIANS CAMERA POV Brian is walking down the field towards the area they heard both of their friends screams come from. Scanning the field with his camera BRIAN (V.O.) (CONT'D) (Yelling) David!!...Tony!!..Can any of you hear me! Brian continues to scan the field side by side BRIAN (V.O.) (CONT'D) If you guys are screwing around, I will kill the both of you! Brian is now noticeable out of breath as he continues to walk. He trys to contact them again through the Radio BRIAN (V.O.) (CONT'D) David or Tony Can anyone of you guys hear me? Brian becomes very frustrated and scared BRIAN (V.O.) (CONT'D) DAVID!!!...GOD DAMMIT!!! ANSWER ME!!!! (SILENCE) Brian then suddenly stops when he sees some objects lying up ahead in the grass BRIAN (V.O.) (CONT'D) Holy Shit.........!! Brian Starts to run towards the objects as the camera continues to roll BRIAN (V.O.) (CONT'D) (Out of breath) David?...Tony?...Are you guys over there? Brian sees David's equipment spread out over the grass and all of Tony's equipment lying not far from David's. But no sign of either of them.........THEY ARE GONE! BRIAN (V.O.) (CONT'D) (Crackled fright in his voice) David!.....Tony? Brian walks around the scene, Then suddenly hears a strange noise in the distance. He stops and scans the area with his camera BRIAN (V.O.) (CONT'D) David? (SILENCE) BRIAN (V.O.) (CONT'D) Tony!.....................What the....! He hears the sound again and turns and starts to run back to the car Suddenly he stops and lifts up the radio. He hears the strange backwards type speech, But can't make it out He proceeds to scan the area While talking into the radio BRIAN (V.O.) (CONT'D) Can anyone hear me?....David is that you? All of a sudden he hears a quiet gurgling sound that he is able to understand over the radio VOICE FROM RADIO TURN AROUND! Brian freezes, Looking straight ahead, Terrified to move! VOICE FROM RADIO (CONT'D) (A little louder) TURN AROUND! Brian still frozen in place. We see only a small part of the field from the cameras light Brian takes a deep breath and starts to slowly turn with camera rolling BRIAN I'm going to kill you two! Brian turning all the way around now scans the area and sees nothing... All of a sudden Brian is nailed from behind and falls straight down to the ground. The camera falls next to his legs and we see his legs shaking uncontrollably....Then stop THE FALLEN CAMERA LAYS THERE FILMING BRIANS LEGS FOR 1 MINUTE *Note* It must seem like an eternity!!!! We suddenly see Brian's legs slide out of the shot as if someone is dragging him out of the frame THE CAMERA CONTINUES TO LIE IN THE SAME POSITION FOR 1 MORE MINUTE WITH THE CAMERA LIGHT STILL ON (SILENCE) All of a sudden the camera is picked up and heads towards the car!... As the camera is heading towards the car, we notice the camera light is still on and there is Dead silence as it moves... We get closer to the car now.... The camera has now entered on to the gravel road, only about 50 ft. From the car... The camera light now lights up the car area and we notice Jamie come out the drivers side running up towards the camera... JAMIE (scared) Brian is that you? (NO REPLY) JAMIE (CONT'D) It's about time!...Did you see....... She is now right up to the camera where she suddenly goes white with a mixture of shock,fright and pure terror on her face..... She quickly turns and runs towards the passenger side of the car, The camera is closely behind her, Jamie is screaming with feverish terror and Panic.... Jamie opens up the car door and gets halfway into the car but is suddenly pulled back out!... At which time the camera falls to the ground and the car door is left open as we hear Jamie's screams fade into the distance as she is being dragged away.... After her screams completely fade into the blackness of the night the camera is still rolling tape on the ground and we hear the beeping of the car door being open for 2 minutes.... At which time with every beep we CUT TO: (BEEP) SIDE SHOT OF INSIDE OF CAR (B+W) CUT TO: (BEEP) SHOT OF INSIDE BACK SEAT OF CAR (B+W) CUT TO: (BEEP) CLOSE-UP SHOT OF CAR WITH DOOR OPEN (B+W) CUT TO: (BEEP) BACK SIDE SHOT OF CAR (B+W) CUT TO: (BEEP) FRONT SIDE SHOT OF CAR (B+W) CUT TO: (BEEP) MEDIUM SHOT OF CAR (B+W) CUT TO: (BEEP) LONG SHOT OF CAR (B+W) CUT TO: (BEEP) FAR UPPER SHOT OF CAR (B+W) CUT TO: COLOR AGAIN/BACK TO CAMERA POV LYING ON THE GROUND ON A ANGLE NEXT TO THE CAR After 1 minute of the camera shooting straight ahead we notice far off in the distance The Paulding Light illuminate out of the darkness and move up back the hill back to it's usual position!
